winter call us to rest, reflect,

and turn inward

settling into a slow pace

a more calmer way of being

seeking out comforts and joys

in the simple and ordinary

and in those places and spaces

that are familiar

to ground, to JUST BE

what I noticed as I wandered the streets, alleyways and parks of Montreal, through the senses and season of Winter. Slowing down, tuning in, to the moment.

It’s the season of wintering in Montreal. I am never fully prepared for its arrival, but somehow I settle into its quiet and slower pace. I bundle up in layers to take strolls within snow-covered landscapes. Each breath is fresh and crisp. 

I let my mind and gaze wander from one story to the other as I pass by strangers, storefronts, and three-story dwellings. I am drawn to the warm lights near the window panes, which engage my interest in wondering about the narrative behind the walls.  I imagine there is someone nearby reading or sipping on tea or cuddling someone close to stay warm.

Each season seems to have its own mood, emotions, and even soundtrack. I pause to LISTEN to what mine is at this moment in time.
