DRAWING Inward & Outward

This is an invitation to slow down and tune into the present by drawing inward and outward. To observe and explore our inner and outer worlds through the senses and seasons. Learning to look and see clearly, feel fully, and savour the moments completely.

Jennifer Cloutier / The modern-day flaneur will guide you through a series of creative exercises and movement and mindfulness practices.

This class will focus on finding beauty in our day-to-day by looking and seeing the simple and the ordinary that becomes extraordinary when you take the time to slow down and witness the intricate design and details of life.

Through different drawing, mindful, and movement exercises, we will observe the practice of letting go of perfection, and control of the outcome so that we can better flow with life. To observe all the textures, shapes, and contours of our inner and outer worlds, others, and our surroundings. Learning to have the courage to show up, and express our authentic visions despite all the vulnerability that can exist in a given moment. We will learn to surrender to the moment, being open to allowing whatever is at the time to be expressed, through the body and mind.

TAKE NOTE OF THE MOMENTS

When: 1:00-3:30pm

WHERE : Outside - We will take to the streets, to stroll like a flaneur, through Montreal, wandering off the beaten path into nearby alleys and parks. To observe, and tune into our direct experience. Using creative and mindful exercises, to look and see, listen to hear, and connect to feel. A conscious effort will be made to be mindful through our senses.

1 ) DRAWING INWARD : Choosing a nearby park to begin, we will pause to bring ourselves to the moment by checking in : Using our breath, and mindful meditation to slow down and observe our body and mind as it is presently.

We will then move to a brief movement practice meant to release stagnant energy, circulate the chi, to the body and mind, and calm the nervous system. So we can prepare to flow and use our senses to observe our direct experience.

2 ) DRAWING OUTWARD: Throughout the stroll, we will take moments to PAUSE, NOTICE and CREATE. using several different drawing exercises to LOOK and SEE what is truly there.

3) Jennifer Cloutier/ The Modern day flaneur will guide and teach through different drawing methods and techniques such as blind contours, continuous, mark-making, direct experience, and Enzo zen circles.
